It is the largest museum in Russia and one of the greatest in the world. It opened to the public in 1852. The Winter Palace of the Russian Emperors is a part of the museum. The Louvre. It is the most famous museum in France and around the world. Originally designed as a palace, it has been a museum for over 200 years. The Museum of Natural History in London. It is the best known museum of natural history, decorated with designs derived from plants and animals. Opened in 1881, the museum features over 78 million specimens and more than a million books, pieces of artwork and manuscripts. The Palais de Chaillot. Structure built for a World Fair. This gigantic museum was erected on top of the Chaillot hill in Paris for the 1937 World Fair in Paris. It houses several museums. The Rockefeller Museum. It is a magnificent white limestone edifice in East Jerusalem. It displays the findings of many significant archaeological explorations in the Middle East. The Rose Center for Earth and Space. Located in New York, Hollywood actors hold space shows in the Hayden Planetarium. Tom Hanks was the narrator of their inaugural space show, and in March 2002, Harrison Ford narrated a new space show. The Smithsonian Museum Complex. It is the world's largest museum complex. Located in the Washington, DC, it has design, archaeology, natural history and postal museums, a zoological park, and an arts building. It contains over 140 million items. The Sydney Maritime Museum. Located in Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia, it is part-building and part-barge. It has an aquarium, a museum and a restaurant.
